THE CULVERT Part 3

Sunday April 24th - Easter

It is Easter Sunday. Tori is part of a production at church.

Rod and I get up around 6:00 and see that it has rained a little last night. They are calling for rain today. We get up and figure that we have a couple of hours before church to go put dirt on the pipe. The previous evening when Rod was putting the dirt back in, he had put it a little too much dirt in there and he needed to take the pipes back out, take a little dirt out, reset the pipes and put some dirt back on there.

So Rod and I headed down there. After a little bit, my Dad showed up to help. He and Rod got it all done and Rod had put a little dirt back on when it was time to get ready for Church.

During church we hear LOTS and LOTS of rain. After church we come home to change our clothes. At this point all seems to still be just fine. We even walk across the culverts. The rain is coming again and while it blows over we are going to grab lunch at Mom and Dad's with Rod's Mom as well.

Now is when all heck breaks loose. The skies opened up while we were eating. Rain pouring down! and pouring! and pouring.

Rod left first and his call to me was heartbreaking. The dam has broken, the culverts have fallen, and it is bad....

what you see in the picture below is the 1st pipe has fallen by 5 feet or so, the 2nd pipe is barely hanging up there, and the water is actually running below the pipe. All the dirt is now washing away. To understand how deep the hole is, the old pipe that is laying up against the side there is a 20 foot long pipe.
